When to Change Your Oil

Each Ram 2500 comes with an oil change indicator system that tells you when you're due for an oil change. That being said, it's still important to check your oil manually once a month to make sure your oil changes are accurate and remain current.

When you change your oil and oil filter, there are some other services to perform as well. These are just some of the services you should perform after every oil change:

·       Rotate your tires

·       Inspect your brake pads and rotors

·       Inspect your engine air filter

·       Inspect your exhaust system

·       Inspect your battery

Every 20,000 Miles

Other than oil changes, there are many services you'll want to keep up with every 20,000 miles. One of the most important services is to replace your cabin air filter. This is especially important if you often drive through dusty conditions.

It's also a good idea to inspect your suspension and tire rod ends during this interval as well and replace them if they seem worn out.

Every 30,000 Miles

There aren't many services necessary every 30,000 miles, but it's recommended that you change your engine air filter if you haven't done so already. However, it's always a good practice to inspect your filter periodically and replace as necessary.

Another service you may want done at 30,000 miles is have your transfer case fluid inspected and replaced as necessary. After this initial service, you'll want to inspect your transfer case fluid every 60,000 miles.

Every 100,000 Miles

So, you've driven your truck for 100,000 miles-congratulations! Now, it's time to have your spark plugs replaced. Not replacing your spark plugs can make it difficult for your truck to start up, so you'll likely notice smoother performance once you replace them at this interval.

Another good idea at this point is to have your engine coolant replaced. Engine coolant typically needs to be flushed every 10 years or 150,000 miles. If you've hit 100,000 miles before 10 years, inspect your engine coolant periodically to make sure it's still usable.
